When Sales Are Slow: Staying Resilient in a Changing Creative World
Let’s be honest—sales have been stale lately. And if you're a creative entrepreneur like me, you know how discouraging that can feel. You pour your heart into your work, you brainstorm ideas, you try to stay ahead of trends, and still… crickets. It’s frustrating. But despite the discouragement, I’m choosing resilience.
Building a business, especially in the creative space, isn't for the faint of heart. It requires constant reinvention, self-motivation, and the ability to pivot when something just isn't working. That’s exactly where I’m at right now. I’ve spent a lot of time using my graphic design skills to create shirt graphics—something I was really excited about. But with the ever-changing market and the explosion of AI-generated content, it’s getting harder (and more expensive) to get noticed.
So, I’m shifting gears.
Instead of pouring my energy into high-cost production work, I’m returning to my roots—my artistic talent. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with creating original 5x7 paintings using mixed media techniques. They're small, affordable, and most importantly, filled with soul. Each one is unique and handmade, something you just can’t replicate with a machine. And in a time when digital saturation is at an all-time high, I believe there’s still a huge audience out there who appreciates the value of real, tangible artwork made by real hands.
This pivot isn’t just about changing the product—it's about reconnecting with my “why.” Why I create. Why I started this journey. Why I keep going, even when the algorithms don’t work in my favor or the sales are slow.
To anyone out there who’s also struggling—whether you're in art, tech, service, or anything else—I see you. I feel it too. But please don’t let the hard days trick you into giving up. Learning, failing, adapting… that’s all part of the process. None of us have it completely figured out, and that’s okay.
So here’s your reminder (and mine): Keep pushing forward. Stay curious. Stay true to yourself. The world needs your creativity, your voice, and your resilience—now more than ever.
Let’s keep creating, even when it’s hard.
